Eagle Pass, TX - A Maverick County Sheriff's Office deputy faces an internal process to determine if there was a wrong act when shooting a dog when he attended a report of a fire inside a local ranch.
The uniformed man claims to have felt in danger and about to be attacked by the pitbull that approached him after leaving the bushes.
Sheriff Tom Schmerber said that whenever an agent is in danger such reaction could occur, thankfully the animal was not killed but underwent treatment for injuries after being transported by the owner to a clinic.
The process that is handled internally by the sheriff's office begins with the review of the video captured by the portable camera of the agent in which it is anticipated that he acted well, although it remains to be determined with precision.
