Eagle Pass, TX - A father and son were detained by elements of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office after they attempted to smuggle four migrants further into the state.
The arrests are part of an action taken by a patrolman who detected a Ford Edge vehicle violating traffic laws.
They intercepted the vehicle and ran the name of the 42-year-old driver identified as Jimmy Chavira in the system and were able to learn that he was wanted on a warrant in San Antonio on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Chavira was accompanied by his 21-year-old son Andrew Chavira who was also arrested on a human smuggling charge.
The four migrants were turned over to Border Patrol. The arrest was made on Wildwood Street in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.

Interceptaron el vehículo y registraron el nombre del conductor de 42 años identificado como Jimmy Chavira en el sistema y pudieron enterarse de que lo buscaban con una orden judicial en San Antonio por un cargo de asalto agravado con un arma mortal.
Chavira estuvo acompañado por su hijo Andrew Chavira, de 21 años, quien también fue arrestado por un cargo de tráfico de personas.
Los cuatro migrantes fueron entregados a la Patrulla Fronteriza. El arresto se realizó en la calle Wildwood de la colonia Pueblo Nuevo.
