Eagle Pass, TX - Maverick County Sheriff Deputies responded to the intersection of Eidson Rd and La Herradura on Saturday afternoon to assist the EPFD EMS personnel with a male subject being treated.
Preliminary investigations at the scene revealed the subject, later identified as 42-year-old Miguel Angel Perez Garcia, had been assaulted at a tire shop on Eidson Road the previous evening and had fallen ill due to the assault.
Perez was taken to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment, however, his condition continued to worsen and he fell into a coma. He was later transported to BAMC Hospital in San Antonio where he passed away.
The criminal investigation division of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and was able to identify a male subject as the primary suspect.
On January 20, 2021, the subject, 19-year-old Hector Omar Talamantes arrived at CID offices to turn himself in on murder charges. Talamantes was processed and confined at the Tom Bowles Detention Center. A $1 Million bond was set for Talamantes.
This case remains under investigation by the MCSO under the direction of Sheriff Tom Schmerber.

Eagle Pass, TX - Los agentes del alguacil del condado de Maverick respondieron a la intersección de Eidson Rd y La Herradura el sábado por la tarde para ayudar al personal de EMS de EPFD con un sujeto masculino que está siendo tratado.
Las investigaciones preliminares en el lugar revelaron que el sujeto, posteriormente identificado como Miguel Ángel Pérez García, de 42 años, había sido agredido en una tienda de llantas en Eidson Road la noche anterior y se había enfermado debido al asalto.
Pérez fue llevado al Centro Médico Regional Fort Duncan para recibir tratamiento, sin embargo, su condición continuó empeorando y cayó en coma. Posteriormente fue trasladado al Hospital BAMC en San Antonio, donde falleció.
La división de investigación criminal de la Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Maverick realizó una investigación y pudo identificar a un sujeto masculino como el principal sospechoso.
El 20 de enero de 2021, el sujeto, Héctor Omar Talamantes, de 19 años, llegó a las oficinas del CID para entregarse por cargos de asesinato. Talamantes fue procesado y confinado en el Centro de Detención Tom Bowles. Se fijó una fianza de $ 1 millón para Talamantes.
Este caso sigue siendo investigado por la MCSO bajo la dirección del alguacil Tom Schmerber.
