Eagle Pass, TX - State official led by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and State Representative Heriberto "Eddie" Morales Jr joined local officials in Eagle Pass on Monday to discuss the ongoing border crisis.
Governor Abbott first toured the Rio Grande where he witnessed first hand the ongoing response by officials on both sides of the river. Coahuila authorities have implemented a similar approach to the one administered by State officials on the US side of the border under Operation Lone Star.
Following the tour, Abbott addressed the media alongside Mayor Rolando Salinas where they were joined by the directors of the Texas National Guard, Texas Department of Public Safety and the Vice President for the Border Patrol National Council.
During the press conference, Abbott assured that the Title 42 should not be lifted. "One thing that we know for a fact, is that there are maybe as many as 100,000 migrants who are across the border waiting to cross into the State of Texas," the governor said. "We've spent the day talking about ways in which we [state and local officials] can continue to make sure that we are doing everything we possibly can to prevent people from coming across the border into the state of Texas."
The governor highlighted the lack of presence the Biden administration has shown in the border. Assuring that President Biden has never visited the border.
City of Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas thanked members of the Law Enforcement community, and expressed his concern on how they are utilizing time responding to emergencies regarding illegal immigrants who are dehydrating, drowning in the river instead of providing services to the residents of the community.
Governor Abbott said the state will continue to bus migrants to Washington, D.C., so far the state has send over 40 buses and will continue to do so, according to Abbott.

El alcalde de la ciudad de Eagle Pass, Rolando Salinas, agradeció a los miembros de la comunidad de aplicación de la ley y expresó su preocupación sobre cómo están utilizando el tiempo para responder a emergencias relacionadas con inmigrantes ilegales que se están deshidratando y ahogando en el río bravo en lugar de brindar servicios a los residentes de la comunidad.
El gobernador Abbott dijo que el estado continuará transportando a los inmigrantes a Washington, D.C., hasta ahora el estado ha enviado más de 40 autobuses y continuará haciéndolo, según Abbott.
