Eagle Pass, TX - United Medical Centers Chief Executive Officer William Worrell is notifying the community that currently the COVID-19 Vaccine is not available.
Worrell advises the residents of Kinney, Maverick, Val Verde, and surrounding areas that calling any of the UMC offices is inundating their phone lines and disrupting normal business.
"We have been receiving hundreds of phone calls of people wanting to know when they can receive the vaccine," stated Worrell. " We have not been given a time frame for the public. Once we do have that information we will notify the communities. "
Local Health Officials are notifying the public that there is no set date (time frame) for Maverick County to receive vaccines to begin treating the general population.
What’s known up to now, is that a certain amount of doses will begin to be delivered across the Nation before the end of December, our region has yet to be notified when exactly they will be able to receive such doses.
United Medical Centers who have been designated as one of the region’s leading Vaccine Administrators is waiting for further notice on how many doses they will get to cover Maverick, Val Verde, and Kinney Counties.
UMC Chief Executive Officer William Worrell stated that once they receive the first round of vaccines they have been given direct instructions to administer the vaccines by order including medical personnel, first responders, and individuals over the age of 60 years old.
Worrell does ask the community for patience and to please refrain from calling because UMC phone lines are needed to be able to allow patients seeking for other medical treatments to call and set up appointments and other medical inquiries.

Worrell advierte a los residentes de Kinney, Maverick, Val Verde y áreas circundantes que llamar a cualquiera de las oficinas de UMC está inundando sus líneas telefónicas e interrumpiendo el negocio normal.
"Hemos estado recibiendo cientos de llamadas telefónicas de personas que quieren saber cuándo pueden recibir la vacuna", afirmó Worrell. "No se nos ha dado un plazo para el público. Una vez que tengamos esa información, notificaremos a las comunidades".
Los funcionarios de salud locales están notificando al público que no hay una fecha fija (plazo) para que el condado de Maverick reciba vacunas para comenzar a tratar a la población en general.
