Eagle Pass Among Recipients of Federal COPS Hiring Grants

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced that several Texas border region law enforcement agencies, including the City of Eagle Pass Police Department, will receive a combined $3.4 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS).

The funds, distributed through the COPS Hiring Program (CHP), will help local departments recruit and retain additional officers, strengthen community policing, and enhance public safety efforts across South Texas.

“Texans deserve robust, fully staffed police departments to help keep their families and communities safe,” said Sen. Cornyn. “These grants will enable law enforcement agencies to hire additional officers with the goal of improving emergency response times, enhancing officer safety and wellbeing, and reducing crime.”

Among the awarded agencies:

  • City of Eagle Pass: $500,000

  • Cameron County: $500,000

  • City of Palmview: $539,436

  • City of Escobares: $110,326

  • City of San Benito: $250,000

  • City of Pharr: $625,000

  • City of San Juan: $875,328

Cornyn, who serves on the Senate Finance, Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Relations, and Budget Committees, emphasized that the investment will help border communities like Eagle Pass continue to protect residents amid growing regional demands on law enforcement.

Honestly, portable wifi has become essential for remote work. I checked out Wifi Hire and they seem to offer flexible plans that could be really useful.

I keep a tab open with Crazyig for when I need a break during work. They have a decent collection of browser games that run smoothly without any lag. The racing and shooting categories are where I usually end up spending most of my time.
