Piedras Negras elects first-ever Mayor representing an opposing political party

Local and nation wide election results send a strong message supporting a need for change

Piedras Negras, Coahuila - According to the Preliminary Results, 197 out of 216 voting locations reporting with 27,844 votes or 47.62% Claudio Bres Garza, candidate of the "Juntos Haremos Historia" coalition led by the Political Party Morena formed by now elected “Presidente de Mexico” Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, is indicated to be the elected mayor of Piedras Negras.

Sonia Villarreal, seating mayor of Piedras Negras and PRI candidate reached 18,908 votes or 32% of total votes counted. Shortly after one o’clock this morning Villarreal recognized that the results did not favor her.

Bres will be the first ever opposing party candidate that results front-runner in a Piedras Negras race for Mayor. However, he served twice as Mayor representing the Political Party PRI.

Claudio Bres (Morena) = 30,046 ✔

Sonia Villarreal (PRI) = 20,356

Ñeca Muñoz (PAN) = 9,874

Jose M Hernandez (IND) = 1,268
