Lic. María Gloria Tonsul, 68 of Victoria, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, July 5th, 2019. María's family and friends will gather for visitation and prayer service, Tuesday, July 9th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at San Juan 3:16 Church, 304 E. Water in Victoria, prayer service will begin at 7:00PM. A service celebrating Maria's life will be at 10:00AM at San Juan 3:16 Church, Wednesday, July 10th, 2019. Burial will follow at Golden Sunset Cemetery, 3011 Old Refugio Rd. in Victoria. Pallbearers will be Robert Tonsul, Jr., Jared A. Lucas, David Dacosta, Anthony Garza, Steve Garza, III, Raúl Hernández, Sr. Honorary pallbearer is Edward Cantú.
María was born July 19, 1950 in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Genaro and Santos Rivera Morales. Maria had a passion for serving others and caring for the sick, in 1974 she achieved her license as a Registered Nurse with specialization in Obstetrics. She spent over five years traveling to the rural cities in Mexico delivering babies and then over 25 years in the ER for IMSS. Maria married her love, Roberto Tonsul in December 26, 1977 in Mexico. In 1988, Roberto and Maria moved to Victoria. Maria continued her passion, by visiting and caring for the sick here in the Victoria area. In 1999, her and Roberto started the second life's work serving the Lord when they opened, "San Juan 3:16 Church". Maria was ordained as Licensed Minister in 2010 with Unified Pentecostal Local Churches International, Inc. When not serving her community, Maria enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Her family and friends will long cherish the crocheted items she made for them. Along with cooking, Maria loved to eat good food as well. She was so well known for dining at "La Cabaña", they named a beloved plate after her on their menu. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Genaro and Santos Morales; and her brother, Jesús Morales.
Maria leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of service her loving husband of over 42 years, Rev. Roberto Tonsul; her children, Gloria Tonsul-Lucas and husband, Jared, Robert Tonsul, Jr. and wife, Lanette, and Claudia Tonsul; brother, Juan Morales; sisters, Socorro Salinas and husband, José Angel, Leonor Aguado and husband, Alfonso, and Julia Morales; sister-in-law, Lauren Morales; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and church family.
