Eagle Pass, TX - Maverick County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested a subject allegedly responsible for sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl and now faces charges of aggravated sexual assault for which he has received bail of $ 75,000.
This incident corresponds to what happened earlier last week at a residence located in the Balcones Heights sector, reported Sheriff Tom Schmerber, who identified the detainee as Sergio Javier Salazar Avila, 48, stepfather of the underage victim.
Despite the man was prosecuted, he was later released after covering the 10% percent of the total bond amount set by law, but when the date arrives, he will be required to appear in court once the prosecutor is ready for trial.
The crime was reported after the victim was transferred to San Antonio to be examined by a medical authority, the sheriff said.
