Eagle Pass, TX - Maverick County Judge David Saucedo in a Tuesday morning press conference reported that he is in favor of implementing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate as he waits for the federal government to make it a requirement.
The conference was held after learning that the Federal Drug Administration granted fully approval of the Pfizer vaccine; this measure will be implemented since it will serve to protect the community itself.
"Not only in this community, but throughout the nation there are still many people who do not want to get vaccinated even when they have the opportunity to do so," Judge Saucedo said.
FDA's approval is a game changer for the COVID-19 vaccine and as a consequence many courts could not agree with it being mandatory, but we (Maverick County officials) agree with many health agencies in caring for and protecting the community from the virus, it is a priority, the judge added.

La conferencia se llevó a cabo después de conocer que la Administración Federal de Drogas otorgó la aprobación total de la vacuna Pfizer; esta medida se implementará ya que servirá para proteger a la propia comunidad.
"No solo en esta comunidad, sino en todo el país aun hay muchas personas que no quieren vacunarse incluso cuando tienen la oportunidad de hacerlo", dijo el juez Saucedo.
La aprobación de la FDA es un cambio de juego para la vacuna COVID-19 y, como consecuencia, muchos tribunales no están de acuerdo con que sea obligatoria, pero nosotros (los funcionarios del condado de Maverick) estamos de acuerdo con muchas agencias de salud en el cuidado y la protección de la comunidad contra el virus. Es una prioridad, agregó el juez.
