Eagle Pass, TX - Eagle Pass Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents arrested two Dallas, Texas residents after they attempted to cross into the United States carrying narcotics; 22.4 kilos of cocaine and 10 kilos of methamphetamine.
This seizure was carried out on Monday morning at Eagle Pass International Bridge II where 76-year-old Ofelia Soto and her son Rubèn Martínez arrived to enter the country.
Chief Detective Efrain Valdez disclosed that the pair was aboard a 2006 Lincoln-type pickup with which they were pulling a trailer, both inspected by CBP agents.
With the support of technology and an anti-drug canine, they found the drug hidden between boxes inside the trailer.
Both were traveling from the state of Durango and, according information released by close relatives, the two had been reported as missing by their relatives through social networks, after for a period of 18 hours they did not know hear from them even when they had communicated when they arrived in Piedras Negras.
The mother was released on Tuesday, while her son is waiting to be processed by a Justice of the Peace at the County Jail, only the son will face charges according to reports.

Eagle Pass, TX - Agentes de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza arrestaron a dos residentes de Dallas, Texas, luego de que intentaron cruzar a los Estados Unidos con narcóticos; 22,4 kilos de cocaína y 10 kilos de metanfetamina.
Esta incautación se llevó a cabo en la mañana del lunes en el Puente Internacional Eagle Pass II donde llegaron para ingresar al país Ofelia Soto, de 76 años, y su hijo Rubèn Martínez.
El detective jefe Efraín Valdez reveló que la pareja estaba a bordo de una camioneta tipo Lincoln 2006 con la que tiraban de un remolque, ambos inspeccionados por agentes de CBP.
Con el apoyo de la tecnología y un canino antidrogas, encontraron la droga escondida entre cajas dentro del tráiler.
Ambos viajaban desde el estado de Durango y, según información difundida por familiares, los dos habían sido reportados como desaparecidos por sus familiares a través de las redes sociales, luego de que por un lapso de 18 horas no supieran tener noticias de ellos aun cuando se habían comunicado cuando llegaron a Piedras Negras.
La madre fue liberada el martes, mientras su hijo espera ser procesado por un juez de paz en la cárcel del condado, solo el hijo enfrentará cargos según los informes.
