Eagle Pass, TX - A very unhappy parent called the EPNL editorial team moments ago to report that a local school principal attempted to hide a positive COVID-19 case instead of informing the parents, students and staff.
The parent who's identity EPNL prefers not to reveal claims that his child who receives in-class instruction at Benavides Elementary was advised on Wednesday evening at around 10PM to not attend school on Thursday due to undisclosed reasons.
Upon questioning the teacher who placed the late evening call to the family if a staff or student had resulted positive for coronavirus, the educator stated she was not advised of what had occurred and was only following instructions.
Parent further stated that today as they (him and his wife) felt uncomfortable with the situation, they decided to call and speak directly to the principal who after they insistently inquired if there had been a positive case on campus, it was confirmed. However, when the family questioned if they should test the child, the school administrator stated not to do so, rather to quarantine for 14 days and monitor child closely for symptoms.
Other staff members and students who reported to campus on Thursday were sent home as well with instructions to not return until Monday, January 4th.

Eagle Pass, TX - Un padre muy descontento llamó al equipo editorial de EPNL hace unos momentos para informar que la directora de una escuela local intentó ocultar un caso positivo de COVID-19 en lugar de informar a los padres, estudiantes y personal.
El padre cuya identidad EPNL prefiere no revelar afirma que a su hijo quien recibe instrucción presencial en la escuela primaria Benavides se le aconsejó el miércoles por la noche alrededor de las 10 p.m. que no asistiera a la escuela el jueves por razones no reveladas.
Al interrogar a la maestra que llamó a la familia a última hora de la noche si un miembro del personal o un estudiante había resultado positivo para el coronavirus, la educadora dijo que no se le informó de lo que había ocurrido y que solo estaba siguiendo las instrucciones.
El padre dijo además que hoy como ellos (él y su esposa) se sentían incómodos con la situación, decidieron llamar y hablar directamente con la directora quien luego de preguntar insistentemente si había habido un caso positivo en el campus, se confirmó. Sin embargo, cuando la familia preguntó si debían hacer la prueba al niño, la administradora de la escuela dijo que no lo hicieran, sino que lo pusieran en cuarentena durante 14 días y lo vigilara de cerca para detectar síntomas.
Otros miembros del personal y estudiantes que se reportaron al campus el jueves también fueron enviados a casa con instrucciones de no regresar hasta el lunes 4 de enero.
