Del Rio, TX - In Del Rio this yesterday, 34-year-old Rodrigo Rodriguez was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for the sexual exploitation of a child, announced U.S. Attorney Gregg N. Sofer and FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs, San Antonio Division.
On February 27, 2019, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to the charge. By pleading guilty, Rodriguez admitted that from April 2017 through December 2018, he used his cell phone to produce child pornography that depicted the abuse and exploitation of a female child approximately 12 years old.
“Producing child pornography is a monstrous crime that cannot be tolerated. We must ensure that those who prey upon our vulnerable children are kept off of the streets. Thanks to the work of the Del Rio Police Department and the FBI, this defendant will be incapacitated for the better part of the next two decades,” stated U.S. Attorney Sofer.
Court records reflect that officers with the Del Rio Police Department (DRPD) arrested Rodriguez on January 7, 2018 after they discovered an image depicting child pornography on the defendant’s cell phone. DRPD officers forwarded the information to the FBI for further investigation into the transmission and storage of potential child pornography. Special agents from the FBI’s San Antonio Division obtained search warrants for the defendant’s cell phone and email account. Forensic evaluations of the seized phone and email account revealed the presence of approximately five images and three videos of child pornography produced using that phone and stored on the defendant’s email account from April 2017 through December 2018.
Rodriguez has remained in federal custody since his arrest on January 7, 2018.
The FBI, along with assistance from DRPD, conducted this investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Spears, John Kennedy and John Cooper prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

Hombre de Del Rio condenado a 20 años de prisión por producción de pornografía infantil
Del Rio, TX - En Del Rio, ayer, Rodrigo Rodríguez, de 34 años, fue sentenciado a 20 años en una prisión federal, seguidos de cinco años de libertad supervisada por la explotación sexual de un niño, anunciaron el fiscal federal Gregg N. Sofer y el FBI. Agente especial a cargo Christopher Combs, División de San Antonio.
El 27 de febrero de 2019, Rodríguez se declaró culpable del cargo. Al declararse culpable, Rodríguez admitió que desde abril de 2017 hasta diciembre de 2018, usó su teléfono celular para producir pornografía infantil que mostraba el abuso y la explotación de una niña de aproximadamente 12 años.
“Producir pornografía infantil es un crimen monstruoso que no se puede tolerar. Debemos asegurarnos de que quienes se aprovechan de nuestros niños vulnerables se mantengan fuera de las calles. Gracias al trabajo del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio y el FBI, este acusado estará incapacitado durante la mayor parte de las próximas dos décadas ”, declaró el fiscal federal Sofer.
Los registros judiciales reflejan que los oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio (DRPD) arrestaron a Rodríguez el 7 de enero de 2018 después de que descubrieron una imagen que mostraba pornografía infantil en el teléfono celular del acusado. Los oficiales de DRPD enviaron la información al FBI para una mayor investigación sobre la transmisión y el almacenamiento de pornografía infantil potencial. Agentes especiales de la División de San Antonio del FBI obtuvieron órdenes de registro para el teléfono celular y la cuenta de correo electrónico del acusado. Las evaluaciones forenses del teléfono y la cuenta de correo electrónico incautados revelaron la presencia de aproximadamente cinco imágenes y tres videos de pornografía infantil producidos con ese teléfono y almacenados en la cuenta de correo electrónico del acusado desde abril de 2017 hasta diciembre de 2018.
Rodríguez ha permanecido bajo custodia federal desde su arresto el 7 de enero de 2018.
