A young Maverick Countian was struck and killed by a tractor trailer rig on Del Rio Blvd in Siesta Acres as he made a frantic and dangerous dash across the busy highway. Pronounced dead at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center from multiple fatal injuries was Jose Angel Solis.
The accident occurred at near 10 p.m. in the vicinity of a discount retail store located in the Siesta Acres area.
Preliminary investigations by the Maverick County Sheriff Department indicate Solis had made a beer run on the Dollar General discount store near closing time and in a mad dash for a getaway was struck by the big rig.
