Eagle Pass, TX - Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber visited the designated migrant caravan shelter on Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff had the opportunity to speak to the Mayor of Piedras Negras, Claudio Bres Garza and other authorities involved in the organization of the shelter and also took the time to have conversations with some members of the caravan.
Schmerber stated, "They are treated good by the Mexican authorities but they still claimed they want to come to the USA."
Prior to becoming sheriff, Schmerber held a longtime job with the Department of Homeland Security as a Border Patrol Field Supervisor, where he became an expert with the detection and prevention of illegal aliens from entering the United States.

Eagle Pass, TX - El sheriff del condado de Maverick, Tom Schmerber, visitó el refugio designado para la caravana de inmigrantes el martes por la tarde.
El sheriff tuvo la oportunidad de hablar con el alcalde de Piedras Negras, Claudio Bres Garza y otras autoridades involucradas en la organización del refugio y también se tomó el tiempo para conversar con algunos miembros de la caravana.
Schmerber declaró: "Las autoridades mexicanas los tratan bien, pero siguen diciendo que quieren venir a los Estados Unidos".
Antes de convertirse en sheriff del condado, Schmerber se retiró de su antiguo trabajo con el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional como Supervisor de Campo de la Patrulla Fronteriza, donde se convirtió en un experto en la detección y prevención de la entrada de extranjeros ilegales a los Estados Unidos.
