Austin, TX - Despite the ongoing mask mandate on airplanes, the group of Texas Democratic lawmakers who fled Texas uploaded a couple of images in which they were on board the plane without masks, one of which showed the group was carrying at least one case of beer.
The group of Democrats went on what appeared to be a maskless flight to Washington, DC on Monday, in an attempt to deny a quorum; prevent passage of an electoral integrity bill proposed by Republicans.
Dallas area state representative Julie Johnson tweeted and later deleted the previous "selfie" or self-captured image of her and several Democratic Party colleagues on a bus to the airport, with a case of Miller Lite beer on an empty seat. “When it comes to protecting our right to vote, all cards are on the table,” Johnson said in the tweet. “We broke #quorum again today because the Gov & #txlege Repubs chose to bully Texans out of our constitutional rights instead of finding solutions to problems that really exist.”
Later, a fellow Democrat uploaded another image showing that all passengers on board the plane were without masks, despite the fact that federal guidelines currently require masks on all "commercial aircraft on board."
The images have caused tremendous controversy and criticism. Governor Abbott announced Tuesday that law enforcement will arrest Democratic lawmakers when they return to Texas in a procedure outlined and unanimously agreed to by members of the House.
They would return to the capitol, effectively forced to maintain a quorum. “As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas Capitol until they get their job done,” Gov. Greg Abbott stated. “Everybody who has a job must show up to do that job….”

El grupo de demócratas emprendió lo que parecía ser un vuelo sin máscara a Washington, DC el lunes, en un intento de negar el quórum; evitar la aprobación de un proyecto de ley de integridad electoral propuesto por los republicanos.
La representante estatal del área de Dallas, Julie Johnson, tuiteó y luego borró la "selfie" anterior o la imagen autocapturada de ella y varios colegas del Partido Demócrata en un autobús hacia el aeropuerto, con una caja de cerveza Miller Lite en un asiento vacío. "Cuando se trata de proteger nuestro derecho al voto, todas las cartas están sobre la mesa", dijo Johnson en el tuit. Regresarían al capitolio, efectivamente obligados a mantener un quórum. “Tan pronto como regresen al estado de Texas, serán arrestados, serán alojados dentro del Capitolio de Texas hasta que hagan su trabajo”, declaró el gobernador Greg Abbott. "Todos los que tienen un trabajo deben presentarse para hacer ese trabajo ...".
