SCAM ALERT: Eagle Pass Woman scammed out of $1.9K

Eagle Pass, TX- Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber informed that a complainant arrived at the Maverick County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday to report she had been a fraud victim.

According to the sheriff, the victim stated she had been paid with a mailed check of approximately $2,300.00 one month prior to perform evaluations at a local store.


The complainant further stated she had deposited the check and was asked by the company to mail three money orders totaling $1,920.00 to an address provided.


The woman was surprised when she noticed her account was overdraft in the amount of $2,287.92 for the previously deposited check.


A formal report was filed in the Maverick County Sheriff's Office and the case remains under investigation.
