Piedras Negras woman dies in fiery head on collision

A 50-year-old woman from Piedras Negras was pronounced dead at the scene of a fiery head on collision with a tractor trailer about 8 miles north of Eagle Pass on Wednesday night at 9:36 p.m.


Norma Ninfa from Piedras Negras was trapped inside vehicle which burst into flames

Norma Ninfa was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Mustang driven by 57-year-old Juan Manuel Pina, also of Eagle Pass, which was struck on the right rear by a 2017 Nissan Sentra causing Pina to spin out of control into the oncoming northbound traffic of a 2016 International tractor trailer. Ninfa was trapped in the vehicle when it burst into flames.


The drivers of the Nissan Sentra and International tractor trailer were not identified by DPS troopers who continue the investigation.


Pina was critically injured and transferred to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to a San Antonio hospital.
