Eagle Pass, TX - Longtime Eagle Pass TV personality Ricky Mendoza known for his late 90’s popular "Tejano TV" show which aired on KVAW and most recently the "Anti-Show" which was produced throughout 2007 where he often criticized and had fun with local politicians, activists and events is returning to the spotlight.
Mendoza is well-known for his comic approach to local news but is also popular for his artistic talents; since 2012 he’s been a well-renowned folk-punk musician with three full-length original albums and has toured extensively in Mexico and in Texas.
Ricky enjoys the simplicity of an acoustic guitar. While still maintaining the fury of his influences, the stomping, anthemic melodies come naturally to his songwriting. But this isn’t his first time hooking people’s attention.
With two feature films under his belt (El Escape De Los Santos (2006) and Ash Wednesday: Capitulo Unus (2008), Ricky has always been a master of world building and crafting stories that need to be told. However, after years of telling others’ stories, it was time to look inward and share his own.
Ricky will be joined by his close friend and highly popular musician Oscar "LBasi" Ortiz whose music is known across the globe.
LBasi has composed several songs that have reached the billboard top 100 list and has been featured in Vice, MTV, VH1 among others.
Mendoza and LBasi have joined forces with world class artists Chacho & Brance (Lorenzo “Chacho” Saldaña / Brance Arnold) and Memo Trillo to form the “Spoken Punk Collective” and will be playing this Friday in Eagle Pass at the Que Pasa Lounge inside the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino followed by a Saturday evening appearance at Cielo Rojo Coffee & Bakery in Piedras Negras.
Mendoza says, “apart from being weird, quirky musicians we’re also best friends and when we hang out, we’re constantly joking, playing music, reading poetry and just laughing our faces off. Our shows are like this great big hangout of friends, family and great energy. It’ll lift your mood and you’ll have an amazing time—I guarantee it.”

Mendoza dice, “además de ser músicos raros y extravagantes, también somos mejores amigos y cuando salimos, bromeamos constantemente, tocamos música, leemos poesía y simplemente nos reímos de la cara. Nuestros programas son como este gran lugar de reunión de amigos, familiares y mucha energía. Le levantará el ánimo y lo pasará de maravilla, se lo garantizo ".
