Del Rio, TX - Del Rio city officials through their official social media site posted on Sunday a couple images of a newly painted mural in the downtown area.
“We’re excited to share the finished product of the newest murals in our downtown area. Bianka Santillan, is the artist behind the latest mural,” officials said.
Bianka the artist expressed herself stating that she was motivated to show the connection between the “older generation” and the “youth” in the inspiring artwork, relating to her grandparents.
“It’s a piece I wanted to create to show the connection between the older generation and the youth. Growing up my grandparents and tias (aunts) always had plants in their homes and little outdoor gardens. I didn’t realize it at the time but when I finally left for college I realize it didn’t feel like home. It needed plants, and so now something I saw as insignificant when I was younger suddenly became a hobby of mine and added the warmth to my little apartment,” Santillan said. “Since then it’s something I can relate to with my grandma in conversation and it’s something we now have in common. I chose to highlight this with native plants common to Del Rio and bring some color and life to the Plaza Brown area with this desert oasis scene.”
Bianka Santillan’s mural is located downtown on Guillen St. on the side of the Parks and Rec building. Pay a visit to admire the rich history, her incredible talent, and support local artists.

Del Rio, TX - Los funcionarios de la ciudad de Del Rio publicaron un par de imágenes de un mural recién pintado en el centro de Del Rio el domingo en su sitio oficial de redes sociales.
“Estamos emocionados de compartir el producto terminado de los murales más nuevos en nuestra zona del centro. Bianka Santillán es la artista detrás del último mural ”, dijeron los funcionarios.
Bianka, la artista, se expresó afirmando que estaba motivada para mostrar la conexión entre la "generación mayor" y la "juventud" en la obra de arte inspiradora, relacionada con sus abuelos.
“Es una pieza que quería crear para mostrar la conexión entre la generación mayor y la juventud. Al crecer, mis abuelos y tías (tías) siempre tenían plantas en sus casas y pequeños jardines al aire libre. No me di cuenta en ese momento, pero cuando finalmente fui a la universidad, me di cuenta de que no me sentía como en casa. Necesitaba plantas, así que ahora algo que yo veía como insignificante cuando era más joven de repente se convirtió en un pasatiempo mío y agregó calidez a mi pequeño departamento ”, dijo Santillán. “Desde entonces es algo con lo que puedo relacionarme con mi abuela en una conversación y es algo que ahora tenemos en común. Elegí resaltar esto con plantas nativas comunes a Del Rio y darle un poco de color y vida al área de Plaza Brown con esta escena de oasis en el desierto. "
