Del Rio, Texas – The City of Del Rio Police Department has received media requests concerning an incident that occurred on June 26, 2021. Nearly one week after the incident and In response to these requests, the Del Rio Police Department prepared the following release:
On 06/26/2021 at 2241 hours Del Rio Police Department Officers responded to a call for service at the 200 block of E. Martin St. near Ogden referencing someone yelling for help.
Upon arrival officers located a 35-year-old female lying on the railroad tracks suffering from severe injuries to her right hand and right arm.
Officers applied a tourniquet in attempts to stop the loss of blood. EMS and Fire Department arrived at the scene and provided further medical assistance.
The female told officers she attempted to climb on to the moving train but lost her balance causing her to fall and trapping her arm under the metal wheels. The female claimed to be a citizen of Tapachula, Chiapas Mexico.
The female was transported to the Val Verde Regional Medical Center and was later flown to University Hospital in San Antonio, TX for treatment.
Union Pacific Police Division was called to the scene and took over the investigation.

Inmigrante ilegal pierde un brazo después de un intento fallido de subir a un tren en movimiento en Del Río
Del Rio, Texas - El Departamento de Policía de la ciudad de Del Rio ha recibido solicitudes de los medios de comunicación sobre un incidente que ocurrió el 26 de junio de 2021. Casi una semana después del incidente y en respuesta a estas solicitudes, el Departamento de Policía de Del Rio preparó el siguiente comunicado:
El 26/06/2021 a las 2241 horas, los oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Del Rio respondieron a una llamada de servicio en la cuadra 200 de E. Martin St. cerca de Ogden haciendo referencia a alguien que gritaba pidiendo ayuda.
A su llegada, los agentes localizaron a una mujer de 35 años tendida en las vías del tren que sufría graves lesiones en la mano y el brazo derechos.
Los oficiales aplicaron un torniquete en un intento por detener la pérdida de sangre. El Servicio de Emergencias Médicas y el Departamento de Bomberos llegaron al lugar y brindaron asistencia médica adicional.
La mujer dijo a los oficiales que intentó subirse al tren en movimiento pero perdió el equilibrio, lo que la hizo caer y quedar atrapado el brazo debajo de las ruedas de metal. La mujer afirmó ser ciudadana de Tapachula, Chiapas México.
La mujer fue transportada al Centro Médico Regional Val Verde y luego trasladada en avión al Hospital Universitario en San Antonio, TX para recibir tratamiento.
La División de Policía de Union Pacific fue llamada a la escena y se hizo cargo de la investigación.
