Eagle Pass, TX - Authorities over the Memorial Day weekend recovered a dozen bodies from the Rio Grande River in the Del Rio Sector.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that on Saturday, 11 bodies were recovered in different areas along the Rio Grande. On Sunday they found another dead person in a Maverick County ranch.
Authorities have reported that the Del Rio Sector is accounting for 30 percent of all undocumented migrant deaths in the U.S. this year. The Del Rio Border Sector has had over 50 migrant deaths this year alone.
There are still five months left in the fiscal year. Authorities are expecting the death count to increase.
